Amrith Kaur Aakre
Legal Director, Sikh Coalition
Amrith Kaur Aakre joined the Sikh Coalition, a national civil rights organization, in 2017 as Legal Director. In this role, she supervises complex high impact litigation and manages policy initiatives to protect the civil rights of all Americans in areas such as hate crimes, bullying, racial profiling, workplace discrimination, and religious rights matters.
Amrith has successfully litigated religious accommodation and bias-based school bullying cases, advocated on behalf of hate crime victims and provided rapid response legal services, submitted testimony before the EEOC regarding emerging employment discrimination issues including those arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, and drafted several amicus briefs that were cited by ScotusBlog as “petitions to watch.” She has also coordinated with local and federal law enforcement agencies to provide cultural competency and implicit bias trainings geared toward workplace equity. Amrith is a recognized expert on issues of race and religious rights.
Prior to joining the Sikh Coalition, Amrith served as a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney in Chicago for 11 years where she created and directed the Bond Court Initiative, a transformative restorative justice program focused on rehabilitating felony offenders rather than incarcerating them. Amrith serves on the Board of Directors for the ACLU of Illinois, was an Emerging Leaders Fellow for the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, is a recipient of the Asian American Coalition’s Community Service of the year award and was recognized by Crain’s Business as a Top 100 Leading Woman Lawyer.
In her free time, Amrith teaches HIIT bootcamp classes, is an avid runner, and organizes the Battle of the Books program at her son's school. Amrith holds her Bachelor of Arts in Applied Science & Technology Engineering and English Literature from The George Washington University, and her Juris Doctor from The University of Illinois at Chicago's Law School.
Anarzhan Abilgazy

Ms. Anarzhan Abilgazy was born in the Karaganda region, Kazakhstan, and grew up in Astana, Kazakhstan. She obtained her B.Sc. in Physics and a minors in Mathematics, World languages, and Literature and Culture from Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan (2017). She also obtained M.Sc. in Physics from Nazarbayev University (2021). Prior to joining Southern Methodist University (SMU) she worked as a PME engineer at a branch of Alstom in Astana. In 2022, she started her Computational and Applied Mathematics PhD at SMU, where she is a member of Prof. Andrea Barreiro's research group.
Manha Ahmad

Manha Ahmad is a freshman at Southern Methodist University and is working toward a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Religious Studies. She graduated as Valedictorian at Founders Classical Academy of Corinth and assumed various leadership roles in multiple organizations including the Writing Club, JustServe, and the National Honor Society. A member of the SMU University Honors Program and Pre-Law Scholars Program, she is also part of the Muslim Student Association and chose to serve as a Spiritual Life Mentor and an Academic Initiatives Student Worker for the 2023-24 academic year. Post-matriculation, she aims to earn a J.D. in law school to become an attorney in order to help advocate for those that cannot defend themselves, preferably in juvenile or immigration law.

He is also the past President of the North Texas Islamic council (NTIC), which represents 45 plus Muslim/Islamic organizations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He is the founder and the past President of Islamic Association of Carrollton, Texas, one of the large mosques in the suburbs of Dallas, TX. He also currently serves on the board of The Islamic Seminary of America. He has addressed events, seminars, summits, conferences & banquets in more than 550 communities/cities across US & Canada. Bill Benac is president of Pathway India, an organization devoted to the education and physical and mental rehabilitation of disadvantaged Indian youth and adults. He also serves various non-profits and boards that focus on the arts, education, mentoring, international affairs, and freedoms and prisoner rehabilitation. Bill previously held executive positions with global corporations, private equity firms, and as an entrepreneur. Bill earned his bachelor’s and MBA degrees from BYU, his JD from Pace University, and is a CMA and CPA. He enjoys boating, road biking, and travel. Michael Berry

Michael Berry is General Counsel for First Liberty Institute. He joined First Liberty in 2013 after serving for seven years on active duty as an attorney with the U.S. Marine Corps. Among Mr. Berry’s numerous positions within the Marine Corps, he deployed to Afghanistan in 2008, and from 2009-2012, Mr. Berry served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the United States Naval Academy. Steven T. Collis is the author of the nonfiction book Deep Conviction and the novel At Any Cost. He is a law professor at the University of Texas-Austin School of Law and founding faculty director of UT's Bech-Loughlin First Amendment Center and related Law & Religion Clinic. Prior to his appointment at UT, he was the Olin-Darling Research Fellow in the Constitutional Law Center at Stanford Law School and an equity partner at Holland & Hart LLP, where he was the chair of the firm’s nationwide religious institutions and First Amendment practice group.
He is a sought-after speaker on both writing and religion law to audiences across the United States, including foreign diplomats from countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and South America on behalf of the United States State Department. K. Randel Everett spent four decades pastoring churches in Florida, Virginia, Arkansas, and Texas before founding Wilberforce in 2014 to focus attention on religious persecution abroad and the enduring importance of religious liberty in the United States. Everett was the founding president of the John Leland Center for Theological Studies in Falls Church, Virginia. He serves as the executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and he currently serves in leadership for the Baptist World Alliance. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas and master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Everett and the Wilberforce team have been on the front lines in the fight for religious freedom, including trips to Iraq and Nigeria, where Boko Haram terrorists and Fulani militants have committed heinous crimes against humanity. Dr. Jack Goodyear
Dean of Humanities and Social Science, Dallas Baptist University
Dr. Jack Goodyear currently serves as Dean of the Cook School of Leadership and as a Professor in Political Science at Dallas Baptist University. He has been full-time at DBU since January 2008, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences from 2012-2014, the Director of the Ph.D. program from 2014-2017, and Dean of the Cook School of Leadership since June of 2016. Prior to coming to DBU, Dr. Goodyear served as a minister in churches in Arlington, Texas and Tampa, Florida.
He has been married to Jessica for 22 years. They have five children – Grant, Claire, Tessa, Treyvion, and Nehemiah. They are members of First Baptist Church of Arlington.
Dr. Goodyear holds a PhD in Religion, Politics, and Society from Baylor University. His studies focused on the historical, philosophical, theological, and sociological interaction between religion and politics and the church and state, paying special attention to the impact of evangelicals in American politics and culture. He also earned a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His Bachelors is from Baylor University in Political Science.

Calvin Griffin was born and raised in Northern Mississippi. He is currently a Senior Category Manager for a national pharmaceutical wholesale company located in Irving, Texas. Calvin Griffin and his wife, Avemaria Griffin, became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1988 and have been faithful disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ for 35 years. They have five children. During that time Calvin has held many leadership positions in the Church, including Bishop and Counselor in the Stake Presidency. In June 2017, Calvin was called and set apart as Stake President of the Denton Texas Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As President and CEO of the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, Mary Pat Higgins leads the Museum in its mission to teach the history of the Holocaust and advance human rights to combat prejudice, hatred, and indifference. Under Mary Pat’s leadership, the Museum opened a new state-of-the-art facility on September 18, 2019, accommodating an expanded core exhibit focused the Holocaust, other genocides, and human and civil rights in the United States. Prior to joining the Museum, Mary Pat was the Associate Head and CFO of The Hockaday School. She is a CPA and has an MBA. She is also active in the greater community of Dallas, currently serving as the Chair-Elect of the VisitDallas board, and on the boards of Ursuline Academy of Dallas, Preservation Dallas, and North Dallas Bank & Trust. Dr. Robert Hunt

Robert A. Hunt was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1955. After attending school in Austin and Richardson, he majored in History at the University of Texas in Austin. After completing a Master of Theology at Perkins School of Theology (SMU) he served the Bethany United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas. In 1985 he and his wife Lilian moved to Kuala Lumpur, where they taught at the Seminary Theology Malaysia. From 1993 to 1997 he taught at the Trinity Theological College in Singapore. In 1994 he received his PhD from the University of Malaya, focusing on Christian missions to and relationship with Muslims in Southeast Asia. From 1997 to 2004 he was pastor of the English Speaking United Methodist Church of Vienna, and an adjunct professor at Webster University in Vienna. Dr. Hunt is presently Director of Global Theological Education at the Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University and teaches courses in World Religions, Inter-religious Dialogue, and Mission.

Dr. Kamal Singh Kalsi, LTC, USAR, is an emergency medicine physician from New Jersey who has served in the Army for 20 years and was awarded a Bronze Star medal for his work taking care of hundreds of combat casualties on the front lines in Afghanistan. He has transitioned into the Army Reserve, and now serves as a senior advisor for Policy Vets and a Fellow of the Truman National Security Project’s Defense Council. Gene Schaerr

Chaplain (LTC) George Tyger is an ordained Unitarian Universalist Minister. He entered active duty as a direct accession Chaplain in June 2007. Prior to active duty he served Unitarian Universalist Churches in Rochester NY (2001-2007), Palmer MA (1998-2001), Springfield MA (1997-1998), Harrisonburg VA (1996-1998) and Monson MA (1993-1996). He has accepted a full-time role as a Senior Consultant at Ernst & Young (EY) within the supply chain domain. Committed to community service, Benjamin has successfully championed various fundraisers including a walk for the American Heart Association. He graduated from a four-year seminary school and contributed 2 years of full-time voluntary missionary work. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loves hearing about and sharing beliefs with others. He hopes to make the workplace an environment to share personal faith and belief experiences and allow for everyone to bring their whole self to work no matter the background of that faith or belief. In his efforts to raise awareness of faith in the workplace, Benjamin is the Vice President of the Faith in Work, a case competition hosted by BYU MBA which allows students to showcase their ideas for making the workplace an inclusive environment for all beliefs.

Senior Brand Manager, Procter & Gamble
Matt is currently a Senior Brand Manager on Pantene, a Procter & Gamble brand. Matt started his career as a real estate private equity analyst for American Investment Company, before joining Clearlink Technologies as a corporate development manager. Matt earned his BA in political science in 2016 and an MBA from BYU in 2023, where he cofounded the annual Faith & Belief at Work Case Competition.
